Nice work if you can get it?
On one of the most important votes this year. One that would effect all of us. The vote to avoid the so called "fiscal cliff". On that bill, the senate members were given only 6 min to read it. That was not even enough time to smell it. Once again the members of the senate who we pay to legislate in a " deliberate and thoughtful manner ", pushed through a piece of legislation with out any deliberation. Regular order to pass and vote on legislation was again, by-passed. Crises again thwarted. These crises situations are becoming ever more prevalent in the political sphere of the Obama administration. We have a government that is operated on impulse. Leaving in it's wake a myriad of unintended consequences. Of course the bills also include intended consequences of "pork" for special interests. Including those who complain about the pork handed out to others. Goldman Sachs, Hollywood, off shore corporations, are among those who received a good helping of the fat. The American tax payer always ends up with the grizzle. Paying the bill. Is this anyway to run a country ?
Who's fault is this. You can point the finger at yourselves. The American voting public. A term we are starting to see more and more is " low information voter " . That is a perfect term for those who pass by a news stand and upon reading the headline only. Make a decision on who they will vote for. Or upon hearing a sound bite. mostly aired out of context. Make decisions on what direction there future will take. The strategy of . We have to get this done now or the " sky will fall ", has become the new norm. Obama and his crew have always lived by the credo of "never letting a crises go to waste". Has fully capitalized upon it. It is right out of the Sol Aulinsky play book of " Rules for Radicals". They have also found accomplices among the rest of the political spectrum. The media hypes it to the max for several months and low and behold a crises of insurmountable proportions arises. Obama Care was done in a crude fashion. Now they have it down to a science.
It has become part and parcel of the legislative process. Sit on your hands. Create a crises and then pass legislation that fits each individual law makers needs. Harry Reid and the senate democrats made sure that the problem spending was ignored while adding more and new taxes. The Republican senators being put in a box if they did not to go along with it. Oh the power of the media is now the power that runs almost every phase of our lives. It really has always been such. Yellow journalism could put us at war with a country like Spain after the sinking of the Main. We all know these things occur. It is the nature of free speech and independent media and press.
However, when the media is controlled by those who always go with the powers that be. Or reflect in an unbalanced way, the truth as they see it. We have a problem. That problem can only be corrected by a more informed voter. A situation I fear we will not see in the near future. At least not for the next four years. The American public, if at all there is one. Has been inculcated by the left, and you know who their boy is. Hypnotized and mollified, until they are nullified. The carrot and the stick strategy is well employed by this administration. With the help of the mass left wing media. They always point out the carrot. While leaving the stick out of the equation.
