Blumberg Capt. Of Pleasure Police

Soon To Check on You for Using Too Much Salt
We have many problems in this great country of ours. The list is extensive and grows and grows with each passing day.  Along with solutions. Some solutions make sense. Others do not. We tend to throw the proverbial baby out with the bath water. Resulting in unintended consequences not foreseen. The fix is more and more regulations and yes the mentality of " there outta be a law" to fix the other law. Or to replace one law with another that is on the books but not enforced. What does that do to our freedoms. If you haven't noticed by now. Each time a law is enacted it takes away the things that we treasure most. Individuality, the right of privacy and freedom to pursue happiness. Some laws are well thought out and others only placate a cry that is fashionable and demanded by small minorities who are well funded. Couple that with a biased media and you have a bigger problem than you started out with. There are those that will not cease to extend their power over the rest of us thinking they know best what is good for us. Big government is the result. Propagating the power of The Pleasure Police.

The Pleasure Police

First they came for the smokers,
And I said nothing,
Then the fast food eaters,
Again I said nothing,

Then it was the soda drinkers,
I then again said nothing,
Then they came for me,
Claiming I watch too much T.V.

Don't do this and don't do that,
Eating that can make you fat,
Putting up a notice for every twit,
This is hot so don't touch it,

They go to court and they sue,
Only benefiting but the few,
Protecting me and protecting you,
Lawyers then collect their due,

Is this all for our protection,
If then so it needs rejection,
People need to live with zest,
Not with an unwanted pest,

We will show you a better way,
Isn't that what they always say,
Black shirts Brown shirts Red shirts too,
The few tell many what to do,

Declaring always they know best,
In your life an unwanted guest,
When allowed to impose their views,
We can end up like 6 million Jews,

History shows us how it begins,
Only annoying as needles and pins,
Then going beyond banning Nintedo,
They begin their power crescendo,

Entering homes to sniff and find,
Always nosing up your behind,
It's all for you they always say,
When forcing us to think their way,

If this means that I am protected,
These ideas should be rejected,
Look out your doors it's a commin',
Hide your guitar no more strummin',

It hurts your fingers black and blue,
We the few know what's best for you,
Brush your teeth thrice each day,
Or a fine you will pay,

No one does any sneaking
In the windows they are peeking,
Think again about those folks,
Banned from lighting any smokes,

Stop and think this could be you,
When controlled by the very few,
History's lessons you can't dismiss,
Oppression starts akin to this,

Of good mens silence it is born,
Freedom's future then forlorn,
A creeping syndrome from the start,
Smothering hope and a free heart.
